Meeting Japanese people in Paris

Furamori brings Japanese and English speakers together in Paris.

We believe learning a language happens first and foremost through human relationships. That's why we organise small-group exchanges in cafés, where Japanese natives and English-speaking learners can meet, talk and help each other naturally.

Our goal isn't only to help you practise a language, but to let everyone feel welcome, discover another culture, and build real connections far from the apps.

Small, low-pressure groups. No spotlight.

You don't have to be the most extroverted person at the table. Most of our members aren't. Groups are kept small so everyone feels comfortable taking part.

Always 4 to 6 people. Small enough that listening counts as much as talking.
No icebreakers, no games. A friendly café and a real conversation. That's it.
Always a public, easy spot. A cosy café or bar near you. Easy to find, easy to leave.

FAQ

English–Japanese exchange in Paris

Can I come if I'm a Japanese beginner?

Yes. You don't need to be fluent. We build groups with compatible levels, so even a complete beginner will find their place. Listening counts as much as talking.

Are there always Japanese natives at the table?

Yes, that's the rule. Every French–Japanese table includes Japanese native speakers, so practice is real on both sides.

How do you form the groups?

We balance each table around Japanese and your level, always with natives. We aim for a good mix so every group has the right energy and everyone gets to practise.

I'm a bit nervous about going alone.

We understand! We carefully nurture a respectful, open and kind culture, and do everything we can to make sure you have a great time. You might meet your next best friend, a basketball buddy, or the person you'll binge your next series with. Why not give it a try?

Can I bring a friend?

Of course. Send us an email with their name and the session you registered for, and we'll make sure you're in the same group.

How much does it cost?

€5 per session. That covers your seat and our hosting. You only pay for your own drinks and food at the café.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Yes. Cancel up to 48h before your session and we'll move your seat to another one, or refund you. After 48h, refunds aren't possible.
